Most birds are long stayers from previous months but a few new ones have popped up - most notably the reported Black-throated Thrush Turdus ruficollis atrogularis (Schwarzkehldrossel) in Birmingham for a couple of days at the very start of the month!

SUFFOLK: unknown orig RED-BREASTED GOOSE Branta ruficollis (Rothalsgans)

bird, but this bird had reportedly come in with some Brents, so why all the
questions about it's origin?
WILTSHIRE: 1W LAUGHING GULL Larus atricilla (Aztekenmöwe)
: Swindon : Has now been present for at least
three days.
ESSEX: Ad RING-BILLED GULL Larus delawarensis (Ringschnabelmöwe)
: Westcliff-on-sea - one of several long stayers
around the UK.
CO.MAYO: BLACK DUCK Anas rubripes (Dunkelente)
: Achill Island - Long stayer
CLEVELAND: unconfirmed 1W IVORY GULL Pagophila eburnea (Elfenbeinmöwe)
: Hartlepool Pier : Seen 07 Jan btw
piers 1hr in a/noon. - No sign since.

Scotland.

WEST MIDLANDS: On 1st Jan 1st yr m BLACK-THROATED THRUSH Turdus ruficollis atrogularis (Schwarzkehldrossel)

reports since then but thrush flocks were reported to have gone from where it
was first seen - keep your eyes peeled!!
SOMERSET: LESSER WHITETHROAT Sylvia curruca (Klappergrasmücke)

- now
may have gone/perished.
NORFOLK: RED-BREASTED GOOSE Branta ruficollis (Rothalsgans)
: 2mls SSW of Brancaster Staithe - Bird is still
around but very mobile with goose flocks.

certainly still around.
